We are a large and busy parish, trying hard to maintain a sense of community despite our size. Knowing so many of our parishioners as we do, we assure you that you will find among them committed people of charity and joy. Many of them maintain a devout spiritual life, due, no doubt, to the many years of excellent care by the Benedictine Fathers We aim for participation by as many of our parishioners as possible, and many hundreds share their talent and time in service to others. With five weekend Masses, there is always need for still more singers and musicians, as well as all the other ministers who help to make the liturgy joyous and faith-filled. We strive to obey the gospel requirements about helping the poor and those who are homebound. We also attempt to share with our fellow parishioners a weekday or Sunday cup of coffee or an evening potluck supper. Our parishioners have built a beautiful hall for celebrations as well as for the education in faith of our young. Some of our people were born here, some have just come recently; all are equally valuable. We would be at a loss to guess how many cultures are represented here, but we know one of the most popular events is the multicultural potluck, at which you will find a wealth of wonderful dishes. We cherish the ethnic background of each and every person in the parish. The Benedictine priests are wonderful in their generosity to us, presiding at many Masses that otherwise Fr. Magnus would perhaps be unable to do. Our lay people step in and assist in many ways, be they trained, professional staff or volunteers donating their time and talent.
