Adult RCIA
CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a sacramental formation process that prepares adults for Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. It includes a total formation that respects each individual’s experience of conversion. It offers a gentle process that includes sharing faith together, as well as experiencing faith in the larger church community and Archdiocese. This gradual formation also honors those who have been baptized and now want to complete their sacramental journey.
Members of the Sacred Heart community, already being fully initiated Catholics, are called by virtue of their Baptism, to welcome and accompany each of the new catechumens and candidates in their preparation process by becoming a sponsor or through prayer and example.
RCIA Sponsor
Are you an open, caring person interested in supporting new people coming to the Catholic faith? Are you willing to share your faith and refresh it?
Accompanying a new person coming into our faith can be a deeply energizing force for your own Catholic faith. Classes take place Sundays, alternating months either at the 8 or 10AM Mass. Total class time is about 2½ hours. The total commitment may be from 6 months to two years. A sponsor must be a Catholic in good standing.
