Elementary Faith Formation

Dear Families and Friends,

With children home from school, we want to help families spend some special time each day with Jesus. That’s why we are making Living Faith Kids Daily Catholic Devotions free for all families to access online right now. This means you can read the colorful, kid-friendly devotions found in our print magazine online—free—through the end of March. You can get free temporary access here:

Living Faith Kids March 2020

Please spread this bit of good news with families, teachers, parishes and everyone you know.

(In addition, the editors of our family of publications have compiled a list of resources to help parents provide social caring and interaction during periods of school closure. You can see the link below.)

The Sacred Heart Children’s Faith Formation Team is privileged to support families as they pass on the legacy of faith to their children. We provide several programs including Children’s Liturgy of the Word, weekly faith formation classes, Sacramental Preparation, service opportunities, and family events.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word:

During the Children’s Liturgy of the Word, children have the opportunity to listen, pray, and celebrate at their level. After the homily, they rejoin their families and the parish congregation for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Children’s Liturgy of the Word is celebrated at the Sunday 10:00am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm Masses.

Weekly Faith Formation Programs:

For children 1st through 5th grade, we have three sessions of weekly faith formation classes to choose from – Wednesday afternoons (4:30-5:30), Wednesday evening (6:30-7:30). The 2020-2021 sessions will begin in mid-Spetember.

Sacramental Preparation:

Students who have completed one year (1st grade or above) of faith formation classes are eligible to begin Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. The preparation includes weekly classes, parent sessions, and two parent-child retreats.  First Reconciliation is celebrated in January and First Communion in May.
