Sacrament of Baptism

And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on Him; and behold, a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
— Matthew 3: 16-17

What is the Sacrament of Baptism?

Congratulations on the great gift of your child!

As parents, you want to love, protect, and provide for your precious child. So does the Almighty God! The Sacrament of Baptism, is the way in which the All-loving Father has shared His own life with us and restored us back to Him, by cleansing us from original sin. Baptism is the greatest gift and protection you can give to your child. Baptism is the gateway for all the other Sacraments. If you would like to know more about what the Catholic Church teaches on the Sacrament of Baptism, check out our Resources section below.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teach us that:

1213 Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church, and made sharers in her mission.

St. Vincent Ferrer made it clear: “Every baptized person should consider that it is in the womb of the Church where he is transformed from a child of Adam to a child of God.”
